Vintage Valentines

Oh, how yummy! Nancie Rowe Janitz put in her shop today these GORGEOUS Vintage Valentines. She thinks they are from the 1920's.

They are absolutely gorgeous printed out to make your own vintage valentines, but I had this idea for a fun little page. It's kind of cheesy, but I had fun.

In case you can't read them, the 5 sweet words on the red heart say, "Won't You Be My Valentine?"

No Place Like Home

Yippee! While Kristen Aagard is guesting at CatScrap (where she's staying through February!!), she and Kristen Rice did another collab! I'd like to introduce you to Love Lives Here. It is soooo full of wonderful things!!

Here is the page I made with it.

Journaling reads: There's no place like home... There's no place like home... There's no place like home...
I loved "The Wizard of Oz" growing up. We'd watch it at least once a year. But I never realized just how true that phrase was until well into adulthood. Home is the place I would rather be, more than anywhere else. Traveling is fun, visiting friends and family is fun, but I can never wait to get back home! My home is where I eat and sleep. It's where I create and work. It's the only home 3 of my kids have known. It's where I've nursed babies, and kissed boo-boos. It's where I've changed diapers and rocked babies to sleep. It's where I make food to feed my family, and where we prefer to eat. It's where we garden and raise our chickens. It's where we cut wood, and stack it for winter warmth. It's where we preserve food, and store it for later. It's where our children have played, in mud and in snow. Where they swing and play tag, and just run around. It's where they have learned to chores, and care for animals. It's where they have learned the value of hard work, and the incredible joy of getting work finished. It's where I hope my children have learned lessons that will carry them through the rest of their lives. It's where I always want to be. Home.

And then for a very special treat... they have put their first collab on sale for 50% off! I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but wanted to make sure you got it while it's on such a great sale!!

I'll be back later with more!

PDQ (pretty darn quick)

You have got to check out Nancie Rowe Janitz's PDQ overlays! She has a new set in the store today, and they are so pretty!

I made this background using them! They are so easy to use!!

4ever

Ju Kniepp has released this gorgeous new Valentine's kit - 4 Ever. It is full of fun lace and pretty goodies! I had a lot of fun playing with it!

I also grabbed this fun set of templates from Tiny Toes designs.

And made this.

This photo is of a firework we lit off last July 4th. It is really supposed to look like Pegasus wings, but I thought it really resembled a burning heart, and was therefore perfect for Valentine's day!

Art Journal Cover

Well, before my husband's brother passed away unexpectedly and we left for the east coast last month, I had started Jessica Sprague's Inspiration Everywhere class. Unfortunately, due to the events, I never made it past the cover of my art journal, but here is that. I was really excited to print out paper and add some actual dimensional elements!

Background is made with Thankful Hearts collab from the CatScrap designers.
Other supplies - butterfly from Jenni Bowlin Studio, self-adhesive rhinestones from Jolee's, and adhesive from Tombow.

Wish List Collab and Blog Hop

Oh, my goodness! Do I ever have good news for you today!! The designers of CatScrap have gotten together with those of The Lilypad, and they made this beautiful collab together. What's better? For a limited time, you can get it free with your $10 purchase! And even better? Our CTs are having a blog hop, and you can collect a whole host of gorgeous QPs made with this great kit! Ready to have a look? Here you have it - Wish List.

Here is the layout I made with it. Ummm... kind of embarrassing that this is my first December Daily/Journal Your Christmas page you've seen, but it's the first one I've gotten made. I had planned to make a paper book, but as we were gone for the first week of December, and I've been swamped with work since we got back, that just had to go by the wayside. So, here is my day 12 page, though I still plan to make a coordinating page with journaling. Can you tell I have a lot of work to do on this project yet?? Oh, well. It's fun!

And since I didn't figure you'd want a "12" on your page, I changed that to some word art for your QP.
You can download it at box.net, and if I run out of bandwith there, you can get it at 4shared.

I believe if you are following the blog hop, you should have come from Meryem's blog, and your next stop after me is Val's blog. Have fun!

Some goodies

Oh, my poor neglected blog! I'm sorry I've been away so long! There's been a lot going on here from lots of paperwork, to my brother-in-law unexpectedly falling gravely ill and passing away within a week, to an unplanned trip halfway across the country for his memorial service, to lots more paperwork and getting ready for Christmas. I'm still FAR from ready, with only about 6 gifts bought so far! We don't have a tree yet, or any decorations up, because we only got back a few days ago, and have been pretty solidly working! Hopefully we'll get all that done soon, as we are rapidly running out of time! I am working on making a few holiday gifts - I'll share more about them as I get some made. But for now, I must share a few things with you!!

Did you know that CatScrap is having an Advent Calendar? Check out the daily downloads there! And you might notice Santa hanging around in the forums and gallery!

Then head over to two little pixels! With your $10 order, this beautiful collab is automatically added to your cart!

I had a lot of fun working with it! I recently made my first photo book using a free code from Shutterfly, and as I had to make it quickly (because I waited until the last minute, as usual), I had to just throw things together. It came out nice, but because I know nothing about bleed and all that, the pages are a little off center. And because all my layouts are single-page, a lot of the pages don't match very well. So, I vowed to make more two-page layouts in the future. Here's my first one.

Page one...

Page two...

and the two combined!

And check out the sweet December 2010 Gold Member kit at DST. It was made by my friend Shen. I absolutely loved playing with this kit!

Here is what I made.

I hope this post finds you well! And I plan to be writing much more over the next few weeks! (((hugs)))
